Finite element modeling of melt pool dynamics in laser powder bed fusion of 316L stainless steel

چکیده

In laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), the stability of melt pool dynamics determines overall quality a manufactured component. this work, numerical model LPBF process was developed in order to study and fully understand behavior dynamics. The takes into account most manufacturing parameters, thermophysical properties, an enhanced thermal conductivity approach, volumetric heat source precisely simulate LPBF. This research assumes that energy emitted by interacts with metal absorptivity gradient through layer thickness calculate history evolution dimensions. obtained results determined dimensions follow pattern, which is caused scanning strategy process. A new effective width criterion proposed present accurately relate both calculated measured pool, reducing relative error obtaining data scattering standard deviation ± 7.21 µm 2.92%.
